PRESIDENTS CORNER
By Beth Evans

At this month’s meeting, we are grateful to have the Northwoods Estates President as our speaker. Russ Coletti will be talking to us about the exciting things that they are working on in their area.

This month has been a busy one with meetings:

The City Planning Commission had their meeting on Monday, March 14th. On their agenda were two items:
  1. First was the property on Melvin Court requesting for a rezoning of R-1 to R-3. The committee heard from all parties and voted to decline the request of rezoning for many reasons.
  2. Second was a request to create 4 additional lots in the University Park for additional homes. This request was approved without rejection.
The County Planning Commission had their meeting also on Monday, March 14th. On their agenda was:
  1. A request to rezone a piece of property on University Blvd to OG – Office General. Several residents were able to attend and speak to the committee. After a great discussion, we were able to convince the property owner, future buyer and the committee to consider OR – Office Residential since this is more in line with our future plans in Deer Park and would also satisfy the buyer’s needs. The request has been deferred until next month and the DPNC Board will continue to monitor this.

I have met with the City to discuss getting the maps of Deer Park updated to reflect the current zonings of the properties. This could start as early as May 2011.
